Austrian Pine ~Pinus nigras

AustrianPine

Austrian Pine prunings from local lodge.

The needles of this tree are antiseptic, diuretic, rubefacient (counter-irritant) and vermifuge.  Indicated for kidney and bladder issues. A counter irritant reduces reddening of the skin.  Indicated for bladder, kidney and rheumatic infections as well as for respiratory and mucous inflammation. Contains limonene which is anti-turmoric. Great for steam inhalation. Good for a variety of skin ailments from burns to boils. As you will see, the Pines offer many of the same healing attributes.

Pinion Pine ~Pinus edulis

Rubefacient (counter-irritant.) A counter irritant reduces reddening of the skin.  Indicated for bladder, kidney and rheumatic infections as well as for respiratory and mucous inflammation. Contains limonene which is anti-turmoric.
High in vitamin C and sucrose which is found in abundance in the needles. Also high in sulphur, supporting connective and muscle tissue.

Pinion Pine Cone ~Pinus edulis cone only

pinionpinecone

The Pinion cone is the fully opened female flower of the Pinion Pine Pinus edulis tree, and the cone looks very much like a green rose when fist picked. I chose to distill the cones after collecting the highly nutritious pine nut in the Autumn of 2009. As I had never heard of a cone essence before, I was not sure what to expect.
The cone produces a light, crisp essence, aromatically similar to the needle yet quite different. Unlike the Pine needle which contains the most recently translated etheric properties (starlight, oxygen and water,) the cone offers the etheric properties fully integrated into all aspects of Earth (minerals, soil, and animal activity.) Sharing the same anti-viral/bacterial/septic, immune building attributes as its sister Pinion needle essence; the cone essence will have direct effect upon the pineal gland (“third eye”) and limbic system (brain stem storing personal memories and place of emotions.) Use of cone essence will assist in lucid dreaming and access of Earthly ancestral memory.

Ponderosa Pine ~Pinus ponderosa

North American indigenous tribes valued this tree for its antiseptic and vulnerary properties, using it to treat a wide range of skin issues, cuts, wounds, burns etc. Also valued for its effect upon the respiratory system, being used to treat various lung and chest ailments. Also a rubefacient (counter-irritant). Indicated as a vermifuge as well. Can be applied for kidney and bladder complaints.
High in vitamin C and sucrose which is found in abundance in the needles. Also high in sulphur, supporting connective and muscle tissue.

scotchpineMcConkieglyph

Our Scotch Pine comes from Vernal which is directly central Utah (near the McConkie glyph site). These trees were being cut because they were too large to transplant. This essence smells quite different from the rest of the "Scots Pine" essence that is out there I can gaurentee you that!

Pinion Pine

~Pinus edulis PinionPine

Gathering Pinion boughs six months after being cut by the local power company. PinionPineessential

~ These trees were litereally mown down by a huge machine beneath a power line. A perfectly healthy forest of trees of all ages. Some trees were at least 400 years, left to lay as a fire hazard.

Sage Brush

~Artemisia tridentata

artemisiatridentata

Sage Brush is a dominate species throughout the Western U.S. community. Being of the Artemesia family, this plant is a known vermifuge.  Indigenous cultures have used Sage for coughs, colds, headaches, stomach aches, fevers, internal bleeding and to relieve pain during child birthing. Poultices of wet leaves applied to bruises reduce swelling. Dineh weavers boiled the leaves and flowers to create a yellow-gold color, used to dye wool. Ute Indians wove the shredded bark into wicks for candles, and they made sacks of woven bark and lined them with the grass. Sage brush is also used for “smudging”, or ceremonial purification. The leaves are high in camphor, the smell that wafts as we walk by it.

Grindelia "Gum Weed"

Grindelia squarrosa

Grindeliasquarrosa       “Gum Plant” was used by indigenous cultures all over the Americas. This plant has been consistently used for asthma, bronchitis, whooping cough and colds. It is an expectorant and antispasmodic, aiding allergenic attacks, not only by relieving the symptoms but in creating anti-bodies to reduce episodes and their severity. Also strongly indicated for eczema, rashes such as poison ivy, hives, etc. This plant is still formulated by “drug” companies for treating whooping cough and asthma.

Rabbit Brush

~Chrsyothamnus nauseosus

Rabbitbrushessentialoil

This plant has been traditionally used for intestinal worms, clearing thick yellow mucous. Indicated for coughs and colds. As it grows closely with Sage Brush, these two work well together. Rabbit Brush is also quite dominant throughout the Western U.S. community. It is currently being tested as a nematocide and for anti-malarial properties.
