Eric Scott has been playing music since an early age, starting out on a simple cardboard guitar. From graduating with his buddies from tennis rackets to actual instruments, he has always sought others with whom to explore and play music.

“Musical good fortune has been one of the guiding forces in my life leading me to wonderful people and lasting relationships.”

COLLABORATIONS

Eric has collaborated with many musicians over the last five years, notably Nathan Gangadeen (also known as Saith), Lindsy Howell (bass player/musician extra-ordinaire), and, most recently, Mawuena Kodjovi (musician of the African Brothers Collective).

Since the summer of 2005, Eric has been working closely with Anselm Spring (www.anselmspring.com) producing a 40 song music project that Anselm has conceived over his many years as a photo journalist. Extensive recording sessions over the last two years have produced a 12 song preview that will be available in the Spring of 2008.

Eric has a large collection of recordings from jams in his living rooms, formal recording sessions in his home studio as well as live recordings at various local events in Boulder. Highlights are recordings that Eric collected for the Utah Arts Council in the Spring of 2007.

Eric is currently collecting more recordings for the Utah Arts Council for its All American Highway 12 Scenic  by-way project. If you know of some local music along Highway 12 that you think would be good for the project, contact Eric at eric@originaltradegoods.com.

Inspired by the great Alan Lomax, Eric tries to record as much music as possible.

MONTHLY PIZZA JAMS

Upon arriving in Boulder during the winter of 2004, Eric began hosting Saturday night music jams, sometimes at his house, other times at Hills & Hollows. The first Saturday of the month jams ultimately turned into formal productions, the “PIZZA JAM!” nights at Hills & Hollows (Events). These pizza jams featured local talent as well as traveling minstrels -- you never quite knew what kind of music you might find when attending one of these jams, which were open to the general public. Now that Original Trade Goods no longer operating out of the Hills & Hollows storefront, keep tuned in to find out where Eric will be hosting music next...
